2019-2020 AP Art: Sustained Investigation
My first sustained investigation piece is titled "Into Oblivion".
Materials: Adobe Illustrator
Medium: Digital
Artist Statement: Since my Sustained Investigation revolves around the idea of self love and discovery (and the lengths we go to achieve it; how we seek for self acceptance), I decided to make this piece based on my current feeling of displacement, this "displacement" being the inability to love myself, and others. The girl in the middle is a representation of my soul; it goes into the oblivion that no one (but me) seems to understand. The people are turning in different directions because I feel that no one can assist me in finding myself; some people are crying because they know what I am going through but they are unable to guide me. This piece connects to my sustained investigation in that it is connected to my personal journey of loving myself and searching for who I truly am.

Long Bay Symphony Prompt
"Angel"
This piece was created with watercolor, black and grey charcoal, and prismacolor pencils. The man falling in the image is Lucifer, the fallen angel from heaven who was banished for his desire to be God. Luke 10:18 reads: "“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."; I interpreted this as Satan, once Lucifer, falling from heaven. As he falls, his arm extends outwards as a last hope. I used charcoal to depict the darkness of the clouds as he descends from heaven. The musical piece by Mussorgsky, "Sepulchrum romanum" inspired me to create this piece based on the dark mood the piece emits.
